Chase Rivera Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Starting off the list is Peotone's Chase Rivera, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Rivera rushed for 300 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 117.1 rushing yards per game.

With the win, Peotone broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-3. Rivera will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Lisle on Friday.

Alek Draper Turns in Season-Best Effort

Alek Draper produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Herscher to the win on Friday. Draper rushed for 278 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 52 receiving yards.

Herscher now has a winning record of 4-3. Draper's next match is against Coal City on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

Tucker Cain Makes It Two for Peotone

The second Peotone player making an appearance here is Tucker Cain, and for good reason. He rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Peotone is undefeated when Cain posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the year, Cain has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 65.6 rushing yards per game.

Tanner Jones Makes It Two for Herscher

The second Herscher player making an appearance here is Tanner Jones, and for good reason. He rushed for 64 yards.

Lisle had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Jones it was a similar story. Jones threw for 230 yards and four touchdowns while completing 89.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 98 yards on only six carries the last time he and the Lions duked it out back in October of 2023.

Another Peotone player making an appearance on this list is Brandon Pleckham. He picked up a sack and made six total tackles.

For the year, Pleckham has averaged 3.8 total tackles per game and for the season has those 1 sack. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 2.5 total tackles per game.
