Basketball Recap: Fairview Apaches vs. Montpelier Locomotives
Fairview was the 50-37 winner over Montpelier when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fairview Apaches received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 62-48 to the Montpelier Locomotives.
Montpelier was led to victory by C.J. Fidler and Kenneth Smeltzer. Fidler went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points along with six assists and six boards, while Smeltzer went 10 of 12 to rack up 24 points. Fidler's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavyn Bass, who posted ten points.
Fairview dropped their record down to 8-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Montpelier, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Coming up, Fairview will square off against Wayne Trace at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montpelier, they will challenge Gorham Fayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montpelier has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three games.
