Volleyball Recap: Soddy Daisy Starts off Right with Win over North Murray

Soddy Daisy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the North Murray Mountaineers on Tuesday.

Soddy Daisy easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-19.

Leading Soddy Daisy to victory were Farrah Hilliard and Aubrey Renfro. Hilliard had nine digs and three aces, while Renfro had 15 assists and seven digs. Those three aces gave Hilliard a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Soddy Daisy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Murray only served four aces.

North Murray is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Soddy Daisy and North Murray will both be playing Gordon Lee the next time they take the court. The Trojans will head out to face the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mountaineers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
