Basketball Recap: Mantachie Takes a Loss

Mantachie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tremont Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-40 back in November of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Paige Gillespie, who posted 20 points and four steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Sarah Sims, who put up 14 points.

Mantachie's defeat dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Tremont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Mantachie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tremont has already played their next match (against Baldwyn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
