Recap: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Bear Grass Charter Bears
The Mattamuskeet Lakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Bear Grass Charter at home and fell 51-7. Mattamuskeet was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bear Grass Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carly Bembridge, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. Bembridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hylee (Al) Jarrett, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Mattamuskeet's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Bear Grass Charter, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mattamuskeet's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cape Hatteras at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Bear Grass Charter will take on Ocracoke at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
