Argos extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9. They came up short against the Culver Community Cavaliers, falling 23-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dragons have suffered since May 22, 2025.
Argos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ioan Petz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Culver Community's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
On Culver Community's side, Caleb McCuen and Jonas McCuen made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, McCuen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jonas struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. At bat, McCuen got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jonas went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Jonas a new career-high.
In other batting news, Reese Carter was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Mitchell Ramski was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Culver Community will square off against Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Argos will be paying especially close attention to the Cavaliers' contest: after the Cavaliers face off against the Comets, they'll take on Argos again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
