Softball Recap: Lynn Welborn Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Teutopolis

It's playoff time, and Marshall had no trouble coming through when it counted. They didn't even let the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes on the board on Friday, marking the Lions' second-straight 1-0 shutout. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Wooden Shoes recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Haley McGuire, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Teutopolis off the board. McGuire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marshall's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lynn Welborn, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Teutopolis, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Marshall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Tolono Unity on the 27th. Teutopolis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
