Baseball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Port of Los Angeles extended their postseason success on Saturday against Sherman Oaks CES. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. For the Polar Bears, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2020.

Damian Ochoa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Ochoa wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Anthony Garcia, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Port of Los Angeles has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sherman Oaks CES, they moved to 15-4 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Coming up, Port of Los Angeles will challenge Sotomayor at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Polar Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Sherman Oaks CES does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
