The North Posey Vikings will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Henderson County Colonels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
On Monday, North Posey made easy work of Evansville Harrison and carried off a 20-2 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Sophie Scheller looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Mylee Allen was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Heath, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and four runs.
North Posey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evansville Harrison only posted an OBP of .304.
Henderson County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Evansville Memorial on Friday. Henderson County blew past Union County 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Anna Kemp was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Maggie Grogan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Saniya Shields was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Henderson County pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for North Posey, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
