League recap: Tokay climbs in state rankings with win

Tokay moved up to 319 from 366 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-City. A 43-0 win over the Tigers helped the Tigers improve their standing.

Stagg extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Edison, 41-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Jonathan Stark was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 160 yards as McNair beat West. Teammate Carl Coleman added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.

Wayne Brooks threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns. He was 20-30 with zero interceptions.

Easter was the best wideout in Tri-City this week as the Eagles defeated the Wolfpack. Easter tallied five receptions for 95 yards. Nicholas Easter helped McNair's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.

Stagg's Brooks and Lester Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brooks has thrown for 1678 yards this season, while Williams, a 5-foot-5 receiver, has 27 catches for 729 yards. McNair's Stark leads the league in rushing yards with 862.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Phil Soria's team takes on Don Norton's team. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while the Delta Kings are in first.
