Volleyball Recap: Barnesville Comes Up Short

Barnesville lost against St. Clairsville back in August, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Shamrocks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils. The Shamrocks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Barnesville ultimately came up short, they really made St. Clairsville work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 22-25, 29-27, 25-15.

Despite the defeat, Barnesville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Makenna Marley had 20 digs and one assist. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Marley.

Barnesville's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for St. Clairsville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barnesville will welcome Martins Ferry at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Clairsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
