Seattle Christian is 9-1 against Vashon Island since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Seattle Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Seattle Christian made easy work of Tyee and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Warriors have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jessica Knight was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Knight was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Adrienne Koontz was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Charley Figgins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Vashon Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Cascade Christian, falling 14-4.
Maddie Middling was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dempsey Moog, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Seattle Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Vashon Island, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seattle Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .515. However, it's not like Vashon Island struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Seattle Christian's way against Vashon Island in their previous meeting back in April, as Seattle Christian made off with a 31-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
