Softball Recap: Wheaton North Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Wheaton North faced Lake Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Lancers. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won eight contests in a row.

Not much got past Hannah Wulf, who gave up just five hits to keep Lake Park off the board. Wulf has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reagan Crosthwaite was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Grantz, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Wheaton North's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Lake Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheaton North will face off against St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.7, the North Stars 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lake Park, they will square off against Buffalo Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
