Recap: South Fork Bulldogs vs. Port St. Lucie Jaguars

The South Fork Bulldogs came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-41 victory over Port St. Lucie. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Fork also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

South Fork was led to victory by Nick Chang and Loghan Downie. Chang scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals, while Downie scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. Chang has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Imarion Stanberry, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, Port St. Lucie still got an impressive performance from Makhari Chambliss, who scored 17 points. Chambliss has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Rodriguez, who scored ten points.

Port St. Lucie struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

South Fork pushed their record up to 16-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Port St. Lucie, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-5 record this season.

South Fork won't have much time to rest: their next game is against John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully John Carroll Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Tuesday. As for Port St. Lucie, they will head out on the road to take on Fleming Island at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fleming Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
