Basketball Recap: Therrell Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Panthers on Monday. The Therrell Panthers fell just short of the Carver Panthers by a score of 53-51. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Therrell this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-30 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Therrell lost, don't look at Azil Hazzard. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. That was a full 51% of Therrell's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Caliea Baisden, who scored 12 points.

Tarrianna Jackson was the offensive standout of the game as she earned 18 points. Those 18 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiyah Floyd, who put up 11 points.

Therrell's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Carver, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Therrell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-46 loss against Lovett on the 4th. As for Carver, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-35 win against Hapeville Charter on the 4th.
