West Clermont and Milford are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. West Clermont will be strutting in after a win while Milford will be coming in after a loss.
West Clermont proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Fairfield 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since May 15, 2024.
Luke Knorr looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gavin Speranza was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Milford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against West Clermont, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 18th.
David Kittrell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Gamm, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
The win got West Clermont back to even at 10-10. As for Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Clermont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went West Clermont's way against Milford in their previous matchup on Friday, as West Clermont made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
