Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Antioch's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After losing to Stevenson the last time they met, Antioch decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sequoits came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 8-3 on Thursday.

Carson Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Antioch's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Schmidt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Nathan Yeager, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Antioch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Stevenson, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antioch will head out to take on Hoffman Estates at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stevenson, they will venture away from home to challenge Crystal Lake Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
