Football Preview: Cedaredge Bruins vs. North Fork Miners

The Cedaredge Bruins are taking a road trip to take on the North Fork Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Cedaredge after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 22-13 to Meeker. While the Bruins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cowboys 7-0 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, North Fork won against Gunnison last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Miners beat Olathe by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 42-6. Considering the Miners have won three games by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cedaredge better focus on containing Alex Csere and Braeden Flores as the pair were huge in North Fork's win. Csere rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown, while Flores rushed for 42 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Flores a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

North Fork was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 210 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

One reason for the win was North Fork's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Bo Eves was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season.

North Fork has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games. As for Cedaredge, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-2.

Cedaredge ended up a good deal behind North Fork in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 14-0. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
