Preview: Southern Regional Rams vs. Jackson Memorial Jaguars
The Southern Regional Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Jackson Memorial Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Regional comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Southern Regional took a serious blow against Long Branch, falling 31-2.
Meanwhile, after only two points in their last game, Jackson Memorial made sure to put some points up on the board against Liberty on Friday. Jackson Memorial blew past Liberty, posting a 34-3 win at home. Given Jackson Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Liberty is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson Memorial found their leader in underclassman Jonah Glenn, who rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.2 yards per carry. Glenn's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards.
Jackson Memorial's victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Southern Regional's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Southern Regional won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in September of 2021, slipping by Jackson Memorial 21-20. Does Southern Regional have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jackson Memorial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
