After a string of six wins, St. Ignatius College Preparatory's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 9-6 to the Junipero Serra Padres. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Padres apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

DJ Delaney was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Emmett Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-3-2. As for Junipero Serra, their record is now 13-2.

While St. Ignatius College Preparatory had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
