Basketball Game Preview: Maclay Marauders vs. FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers

The Maclay Marauders will square off against the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Maclay and four for FAMU DRS.

Maclay saw some tournament action two weeks ago. They were dealt a 59-21 loss at the hands of Dawson County. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 315th in Florida, while the Tigers are ranked 145th in Georgia).

The losing side was boosted by Lauren Guyer, who posted 11 points. That was a full 52.4% of Maclay's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, FAMU DRS scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 63-48 bruising from North Florida Christian.

Maclay will have to keep a close watch on Nivre Green and Hailyn Forbes, a pair of players who had a big impact on FAMU DRS's prior game. Green dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards, while Forbes had eight points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in points.

Maclay's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for FAMU DRS, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
