Basketball Preview: Oxford Pirates vs. South Colonels
The Oxford Pirates will be playing at home against the South Colonels at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Oxford is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Oxford came up short against the Indians and fell 55-48.
Despite their defeat, Oxford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nolan Remington, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Remington has scored all season. Kofi Owusu was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, South came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 59-48 win over St. Paul on Friday.
Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for South, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.
Things could have been worse for Oxford, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to the Colonels when the teams last played back in January of 2019. Can Oxford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
