Softball Recap: Northside Drops Highest Score of Season Against Von Steuben

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northside). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Von Steuben Panthers on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Yailyn Medina was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Payton Phoxay was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Northside lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 2-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Northside's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Von Steuben, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will challenge Whitney Young at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dolphins will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Von Steuben, they will take on Prosser at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.4 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
