Football Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Bear Grass Charter Bears + How To Watch

Mattamuskeet hasn't had much luck against Bear Grass Charter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lakers will take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Mattamuskeet has given up an average of 46.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-6, which was the final score in Mattamuskeet's tilt against Lawrence Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Warriors are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand Columbia a 38-0 shutout. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 32 points or more this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Vance Keel and Connor Clifton. Keel gained 149 total yards and two touchdowns while Clifton rushed for 133 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards Clifton has posted since back in October of 2024.

Bear Grass Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Mattamuskeet, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Mattamuskeet took a serious blow against Bear Grass Charter in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 60-12. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lakers were down 38-6.
