Basketball Recap: Bergan Catholic Skates Past Bancroft-Rosalie with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Bergan Catholic on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers out of the water with a 79-47 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-23.

Bergan Catholic was led to victory by Trey Mooney and Gavin Baker. Mooney went 7-for-12 on his way to 25 points and six assists, while Baker dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The contest was Baker's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cale Sheets, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Bergan Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bancroft-Rosalie only pulled down four.

Despite the loss, Bancroft-Rosalie still got an impressive performance from Kj Blackhawk, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Browning, who earned ten points.

The victory was the sixth in a row (dating back to last season) for Bergan Catholic, bringing their record up to 2-0. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Bergan Catholic and Bancroft-Rosalie will both be playing Omaha Nation the next time they take the court. The Panthers will host the Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Knights will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
