Football Recap: Sierra Timberwolves vs. Enochs Eagles
Sierra kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Enochs Eagles. The Timberwolves gained 94 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.
Sierra's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darien East, who rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. East was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Ryan Reyes was another key player, gaining 108 total yards and two touchdowns.
Enochs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Maestas led the charge by throwing for 352 yards and six TDs on only 17 passes. Those 352 passing yards gave Maestas a new career-high. Kayden Brown was Maestas' top target, picking up 53 receiving yards, while also rushing for 152 yards on only five carries.
Looking ahead, Sierra will face off against Lathrop at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Enochs, they will challenge Ripon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
