Basketball Game Preview: Gary West Side Cougars vs. East Chicago Central Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Gary West Side Cougars face off against the East Chicago Central Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday... Gary West Side will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Gary West Side beat Hammond Morton 62-51. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Governors are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, East Chicago Central's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were beaten by La Lumiere 90-55.

Gary West Side has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for East Chicago Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Things could have been worse for Gary West Side, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-55 loss to East Chicago Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Gary West Side avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
