Baseball Game Preview: Case Cardinals vs. Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders

The Case Cardinals will face off against the Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Case has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Somerset Berkley Regional will come in with four straight victories.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Case and Apponequet Regional have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 10-9.

Lucas Saltmarsh was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Sellers, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Somerset Berkley Regional won against Apponequet Regional on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Raiders came out on top against West Bridgewater by a score of 6-3.

Evan Isidorio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryan Crook was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayden Cruz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Somerset Berkley Regional's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Case, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
