Volleyball Game Preview: Southeastern Panthers vs. Adena Warriors

Southeastern is 1-9 against Adena since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Southeastern can't be too worried about heading out to take on Adena: they just beat Chesapeake at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Southeastern put the hurt on Chesapeake with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Southeastern.

The win didn't come easy: Chesapeake scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-23.

If Minford wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Adena, they should've done a better job of containing Kimmy Dalton. The Warriors put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday thanks in part to Dalton, who had 17 digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 13 times she's played.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-8, 25-17.

Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Adena, their victory bumped their record up to 23-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Southeastern has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Adena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Southeastern might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Adena in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
