Football Game Preview: Armijo Royals vs. Edison Vikings

The Armijo Royals will square off against the Edison Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Armijo put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They breezed past Modesto Christian to the tune of 57-22. With the Royals ahead 36-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

It was another big night for Korey Choyce, who threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Davion Pickettay helped Choyce out on the ground, rushing for 75 yards on only nine carries, while also picking up 47 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Armijo proved: they limited Modesto Christian to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Toa Atuatasi for the heroic effort on defense: he. Armijo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Edison, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over Downey on Friday.

Armijo better keep an eye on Devin Rasmussen. He was instrumental in Edison's win, throwing for 218 yards and five TDs on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 55 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Rasmussen has posted since back in August of 2024. Kailan Beaver also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Edison's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Armijo, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
