Basketball Recap: Clayton Takes a Loss

Clayton managed to keep up with South Garner until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Clayton Comets lost 72-51 to the South Garner Titans. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Titans are ranked 43rd).

South Garner found their leader in sophomore Taylor Moore, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kimaya Barnes, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Clayton's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for South Garner, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Clayton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-71 defeat against Garner on the 31st. As for South Garner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-41 victory against Willow Spring on the 31st.
