Softball Game Preview: Clarksville Generals vs. Switzerland County Pacers

The Clarksville Generals will venture away from home to challenge the Switzerland County Pacers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Clarksville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against New Albany on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-4. The Generals haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Clarksville saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaliyah Watts, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Maci Cummings, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Switzerland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 22-19 to Austin. That's two games in a row now that the Pacers have lost by exactly three runs.

Macy Cook and Aryonna Cunningham did some serious damage despite the final result: Cook got on base in three of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs, while Cunningham went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, Cook is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Snider, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Switzerland County's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Clarksville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clarksville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Switzerland County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
