Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey lost against Van Buren County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Monterey Wildcats and the Van Buren County Eagles didn't end well, with the Monterey Wildcats falling 45-26. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Garrett Wessels was Monterey's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Collin Fowler held things down on the boards with 19 rebounds.

Monterey has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Van Buren County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will welcome Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Van Buren County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitwell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
