Baseball Recap: Port Gibson Comes Up Short

If Port Gibson was feeling good fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Jefferson County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Port Gibson Blue Waves took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Natchez Bulldogs on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Waves of the 11-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Raphael Neal was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Akeem Wells was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Port Gibson's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Natchez, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

Port Gibson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-2 defeat against West Lincoln on the 11th. As for Natchez, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-2 victory against South Pike on the 10th.
