Softball Game Preview: Bridgeport Indians vs. Ritchie County Rebels

The Bridgeport Indians will head out to square off against the Ritchie County Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Things were looking good for Bridgeport after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 22-2 to Lewis County.

Meanwhile, Ritchie County came up short against Wahama on Tuesday, falling 15-1.

Bridgeport has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Ritchie County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4-1.

Bridgeport beat Ritchie County 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
