Preview: Maria Carrillo Pumas vs. Windsor Jaguars

Maria Carrillo is 1-9 against Windsor since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maria Carrillo Pumas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Windsor Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maria Carrillo has four straight victories, Windsor has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Maria Carrillo posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Analy and snuck past 52-49.

Maria Carrillo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Jamieson led the charge by scoring 14 points. Nathan Dipman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and six assists.

Windsor suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Piner by a score of 60-58. While losing is never fun, Windsor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Piner is ranked 270th).

Maria Carrillo's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-7. As for Windsor, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Maria Carrillo suffered a grim 61-38 defeat to Windsor in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Maria Carrillo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
