After losing to Chapman the last time they met, Abilene decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cowboys skirted past the Irish 2-1.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (72-71) Abilene actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 27-25, 25-22.

Annastyn Waite paced Abilene's offense, picking up 12 kills. Waite got some help from Rylee Miller and her 30 assists. KaiLee Crane controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Chapman had strong showings from Breslyn Francis, who had ten digs and nine assists, and Maddison Grubb, who had seven digs and one assist.

Abilene's win bumped their record up to 13-16. As for Chapman, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-23.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Irish beat Abilene by a score of 2-0 later that day.
