The Eastern Comets will take on the Sheridan Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sheridan will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Eastern extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Comets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Phalen Leadership Academy 67-0. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Falcon are ranked 312th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bentley Hullinger, who rushed for 60 yards, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Another rusher making a difference was Isaiah Pickett, who rushed for 62 yards and one TD.

Eastern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kaleb Hurt. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Sheridan on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Delphi Community out of the water with a 45-6 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-0.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sheridan's defense and their eight sacks. Jaden Dunbar was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up six himself. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 10 sacks on the season. Alex Cravens was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.

Sheridan's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Eastern has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 165.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 243.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Eastern strolled past Sheridan when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 38-23. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Blackhawks' Dayne Voege, who picked up 78 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Comets to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
