Softball Recap: Weiser Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Weiser dropped their record down to 12-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cole Valley Christian Chargers. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Weiser saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Waite, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Cole Valley Christian, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games.

On Cole Valley Christian's side, Karlie Barnum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Barnum is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brinkley Lauderdale, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Lola Crosby was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Weiser beat Cole Valley Christian by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday.
