Basketball Game Preview: Manchester Valley Mavericks vs. Century Knights

The Manchester Valley Mavericks will head out to square off against the Century Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Manchester Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Francis Scott Key 71-38. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.

Owen Caine was nothing short of spectacular: he went 9 for 13 en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Hottenstein, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Century came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 52-41 victory over the Owls.

Century's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Manchester Valley, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Manchester Valley skirted past Century 48-45 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Manchester Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Century turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
