Basketball Recap: Elko's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Elko lost to Churchill County on January 3rd, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Elko Indians managed a 52-48 victory over the Churchill County Greenwave. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Churchill County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Wyatt Peek, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 17 points. That's the most points Peek has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Calin Anderson, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Elko's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Churchill County, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Elko won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lowry at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Elko is facing Lowry at the right time seeing as Lowry is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Churchill County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Spring Creek at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Spring Creek will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Churchill County surely won't give up without a fight.
