Baseball Recap: Huntsville Wins Going Away Against St. John Paul II

The Huntsville Panthers got the win against the St. John Paul II Falcons on Monday by a conclusive 16-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Truitt Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Huntsville is 4-2 when Taylor allows one or fewer earned runs, but 12-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Wyatt Howell and Landon Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Howell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run, while Scott went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three doubles gave Howell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ruffing, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Huntsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Huntsville's win bumped their record up to 16-17. As for St. John Paul II, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Huntsville is taking a road trip to face off against Grissom at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. St. John Paul II does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
