Basketball Recap: South Pointe Comes Up Short

If South Pointe was feeling good fresh off their 69-41 takedown of Dream City Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Pointe Griffins were beaten by the Imagine Prep Storm 72-45 on Saturday. The Griffins have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

South Pointe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dasaan Schaeffer, who posted 20 points, and Lee Reed, who scored 13 points. That was a full 44.4% of South Pointe's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Darrin Jeffries, who put up five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Imagine Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rich Rodriguez, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Eaddy, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

South Pointe's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Imagine Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

South Pointe will host Heritage Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something South Pointe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Imagine Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-70 loss against Learning Foundation & Performing Arts on the 4th.
