Basketball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They were dealt a 57-24 defeat at the hands of the Minisink Valley Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-27 back in January.

Despite the loss, Monticello saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Williams posted 11 points and three steals. Williams continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Minisink Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Coming up, Monticello will challenge Port Jervis at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minisink Valley has already played their next matchup (against Burke Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
