Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Anacostia Indians
On Monday, the Roosevelt Roughriders faced the Anacostia Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt walked away with a 48-40 win over Anacostia. The win was a breath of fresh air for Roosevelt as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the defeat, Anacostia saw an underclassman step up: Nayjah Duvall dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Anacostia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Anacostia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Jackson-Reed focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
