Baseball Recap: Village Christian Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Village Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past the East Bladen Eagles 2-1.

Ryan Rogers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Rogers wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sean Nicely, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Village Christian Academy will take on Crossroads Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Bladen, they will venture away from home to challenge West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
