Football Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Rockdale Tigers

The Troy Trojans will take on the Rockdale Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Troy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 42 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Little River Academy on Friday. They were beaten by the Bumblebees 49-7. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Jayden Lucky and Brian Grissom. Grissom had a great game and gained 322 total yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Lucky was balling out in the loss, rushing for 145 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-28, which was the final score in Rockdale's tilt against C.H. Yoe on Friday.

Troy will have to keep a close watch on Deandre Stephens and Greyson Williams, a pair of players who had a big impact on Rockdale's prior game. Stephens picked up 184 receiving yards and three scores, while Williams threw for 319 yards and four TDs. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 301.8 passing yards per game.

Rockdale's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Troy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Rockdale, though, as they've been averaging only 78.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
