Expect
the group of players on the Preseason Arizona All-State
Football Teams presented by Suddenlink by Altice to join these past greats in the
near future.
This is the second of a series of All-State teams appearing in MaxPreps before the start of the football season.
California was released last week and we've got nine more coming up until Aug. 28.
First Team Offense
The
2020 Ohio State commit has thrown for 7,819 yards during his high
school career and needs 3,265 yards during his senior season to move
past Rattler as the all-time leading passer in Arizona state history.
His
older brother, Brock, was one of the best quarterbacks to ever come
out of the Grand Canyon State. Chubba showed he is ready for the spotlight
during his junior year throwing for nearly 3,500 yards and 36
touchdowns. The Louisville pledge added over 1,100 yards rushing and 22
more scores.
Robinson committed to Texas earlier this month and the Longhorns are
getting one of the top running backs in high school football. He rushed
for 2,400 yards and 35 touchdowns as a junior.
He
was one of the most productive running backs in the state last year
rushing for nearly 2,000 yards and 38 touchdowns averaging 10
yards per carry.
The
4-star wide receiver is one of the top playmakers in the country. He's
set to make his college commitment next month and, according to
the 247sports crystal ball, Michigan is the leader right now.
One
of the most versatile players in the state, the 2020 California commit
had over 1,200 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He also was the team's
punter averaging more than 40 yards per punt, and also made a 53-yard field goal
during his junior year.
Despite
missing all of last season because of eligibility rules, expect a monster senior campaign for one
of the best tight ends from the Class of 2020.
The
Notre Dame pledge checks in as the No. 8 offensive tackle from the
Class of 2020 and leads one of the most explosive offenses in the
state.
Jeffers
is the first of 12 players selected from the Arizona power. The future
Oregon Duck is one of the top offensive linemen on the West Coast.
The
future Oklahoma Sooner helped the Black Hawks to an 11-2 record in
2018 and will be a leader during his senior campaign.
The 2020 Oklahoma State commit is one of the state's most well-rounded offensive lineman.
OL — Bram Walden, Saguaro (Scottsdale) | Jr. | 6-4 | 270
He
joins his teammate Jeffers on the First Team and leads one of the best
offensive lines in the country. Walden checks in as the No. 2 prospect
in Arizona for the Class of 2021.
Did it all for the three-time defending 6A state champs last season before getting injured. In seven games, he had nearly 800
yards receiving and eight touchdowns and has been the starting safety
for the Wolves since his sophomore season.
The
2020 USC commit is one of the top rated kickers from the Class of 2020.
He also averaged over 50 yards per punt and nearly 80 percent of kickoffs resulted
in touchbacks.
First Team Defense
Quintin Somerville, Saguaro

One
of the most gifted defensive ends in high school football, the 4-star
talent had 11 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2018. He is also a Top 100 basketball player.
The state's top rated player in the Class of
2021 is also the No. 3 strong-side defensive end among all juniors on
247sports.
His
13 sacks were the most in 6A last season and earlier this week he announced his commitment to San Diego State.
Already has 11 FBS offers and expect a huge senior season for the talented edge rusher.
One of seven first-team players from Saguaro, he
helps lead one of the most talented defenses in the country and has
already landed 19 FBS offers including LSU,
Oklahoma, Texas and Oregon.
The 2020 Wisconsin commit finished last season with 20.5 tackles for loss and eight and a half sacks.
One of the most productive defensive players in the country during
his junior year, the 2020 Harvard commit had 145 tackles and 21 tackles
for loss while leading them to a 13-1 record.
DB — Kelee Ringo, Saguaro (Scottsdale) | Sr. | 6-2 | 205
The 5-star cornerback is the top rated defensive back in the Class of 2020 on 247sports composite list.
He and Ringo give the six-time defending state champs one of the best secondaries in the nation.
One
of the best all-around players in the state, he was second on the team
with 94 tackles during his junior season and added three interceptions to
go with nearly 1,000 yards of total offense and 15 touchdowns.
The lone defensive back selected on the First Team that is from the
Class of 2021. He was an All-State selection as a sophomore after
finishing the year with a team-high five interceptions.
The
2020 Ohio State commit is one of the best players in the country. He
had over 600 yards receiving and six touchdowns last season, but the
other side of the ball is where he is going to make his money. He is one
of the hardest hitting safeties and his instincts are off the charts.
He posted 82 tackles and had a team high six interceptions in 2018.
Replaces Texas Tech kicker Austin McNamara, who was one of the top punters in 2018. Ray enters his junior season as one of the top rated
punters in the Class of 2021.
Second Team Offense
QB — JD Johnson, Pinnacle (Phoenix) | Sr. | 6-4 | 215
The
2020 Michigan commit showed he's more than capable enough to handle
the quarterback position during his junior season while Spencer Rattler missed
some time in 2018. Threw for over 2,000 yards and
17 touchdowns in limited action.
Threw for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns last season, and the future Arizona Wildcat added another 500 yards on the ground.
Transferred
from Chaparral for his senior season and expect the
4-star playmaker to be one of the best running backs in the state.
Rushed for over 1,600 yards and 27 touchdowns for the 4A state champions.
WR — Matt Polk, Saguaro (Scottsdale) | Sr. | 6-4 | 210
One
of the most talented wide receivers in Arizona will be a big-time
playmaker for one of the best teams in the country during his senior
season.
Had nearly 1,500 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns in 2018; will be Johnson's favorite target this season.
The
San Diego State pledge had over 500 yards receiving and eight
touchdowns during his junior campaign and expect even bigger numbers in
2019.
Will
be the leader for the three-time defending 6A state champs. Has been
starting since his freshman season and will be the team's
heart and soul in 2019.
The 2020 Oregon State commit is one of the best offensive guards from the Class of 2020.
OL — Bruno Fina, Salpointe Catholic (Tucson) | Sr. | 6-4 | 245
Will
play a monster role for one of the most explosive offenses in the
state. The future UCLA Bruin helped pave the way for over 6,000 scrimmage
yards in 2018.
2020 USC commit has started since his
freshman campaign and is one of the most well-rounded tackles in the
nation.
Has some of the best footwork and hands in the trenches. The future Sun Devil has been a starter on varsity since day one.
A standout player no matter where he lines up, he checks in as the
No. 4 recruit in Arizona from the Class of 2021 and the former Brophy
College Prep playmaker will be a huge addition on both sides of the ball
for the six-time defending state champs.
His
father Jay kicked in the National Football League for 14 years
and the son showed his potential during his sophomore season making 7-of-9 field goals, including a 52-yarder.
Second Team Defense
Expect him to be one of the best edge rushers on the West Coast in 2019. His dad, Brentson, was a star at Clemson, played in the NFL for 12 years and is now the defensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders.

An all-state selection during his sophomore season and expect an even better junior campaign for the 3-star defensive tackle.
Posted 10.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss in 2018 and will be a nightmare for opposing offenses again.
DL — Drew Achor, Pinnacle (Phoenix) | Sr. | 6-2 | 260 Dominates the line of scrimmage every single week and makes everyone else's job easier on defense when he takes on double and triple teams.
His older brother,
Gunner, was a big-time playmaker on offense for the Wolves during his high school career and the younger brother is doing the same thing on the other side of the ball.
The 2020 UCLA commit is one of the most versatile linebackers in the state. Can cover and rarely misses tackles at the line of scrimmage.
Led the Pride in tackles (109) during his junior season and expect him to show out again in 2019.
DB — Eric Haney, Centennial (Peoria) | Sr. | 5-10 | 175 Helps give the back-to-back 5A state champs one of the best secondaries in Arizona. He and Young are two of the best all-around players on the West Coast.
One of the best lockdown corners in the state. Quarterbacks rarely look his direction and has already landed over 20 FBS offers.
Has a lot of the same skills as the Carolina Panthers' Shaq Thompson and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Deone Bucannon. Plays at a high level whether he lines up in the box or at safety.
Had 98 tackles and five interceptions last season and will be one of the top defensive backs again in Arizona this year.
The 2020 Arizona State commit is the 12th and final selection featured from Saguaro. He makes plays everywhere he lines up and will be an impact player on both sides of the ball.
Averaged over 40 yards per punt last season and has one of the strongest legs in the state. He showed off that power connecting on a 57-yard field goal in 2018.
