Moody takes down Russellville in a playoff battle

Recap: Moody Blue Devils vs. Russellville Golden Tigers

With a playoff game on the line, the Moody Blue Devils rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over the Golden Tigers. Considering Moody has won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlie Johnston was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Ka'darius Barnes was another key contributor, picking up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Russellville's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cameron Phinizee, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Phinizee is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

Moody's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for Russellville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Moody will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ramsay at 7:00 p.m. Ramsay is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Russellville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
