The Lorena Leopards will square off against the Robinson Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Robinson will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Lorena extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Leopards never let Connally get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory.
Gabby Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Gomez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Holly Barrett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Lorena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Robinson came tearing into Friday's matchup with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 22-0 win.
Like Lorena, Robinson also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaygen Marshall. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Marshall was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Lexi Rosillo was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Williams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Robinson pushed their record up to 24-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lorena, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lorena has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've averaged .505. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
